MUNCIE, Ind. - While Be Here Now is currently under fire for reportedly supporting a predator, the response from the venue has been...something.
Leisure Hour, a band, posted to Instagram 3 days ago, calling out the venue.
"It was made obvious to us and the other performers that [the predator] has a close relationship with the staff and owner, Whitney Lewis," the band posted. "[W]e felt it was not a safe space for us or our fans and we will never be performing at Be Here Now again."
Be Here Now proceeded to post a Winnie the Pooh graphic to its Instagram page, reading "Doing nothing often leads to the very best something."
And yet, they are not doing nothing. Earlier today, the venue posted a photo of its sign completely stripped of letters, as if scrambling for a new identity.
By this evening, the sign reportedly read one of two things—one is satire, one is real. See if you can spot which is which:
- "Now Announcing Leisure Hour Daily Specials 8 to 10 One Dollar Drafts" – An attempt to profit off controversy? Bold move.
- "Kids Drink Free* *Terms Apply" – While the exact "terms" remain unclear, given the recent event, we can only assume they’re morally, ethically, and legally horrifying.
One of these is Be Here Now’s actual, unironic response (click here to see it for yourself). The fact that you had to think about it for even a second speaks volumes.
