MUNCIE, INDIANA - This is not a drill: The Atrium is returning to its former glory...allegedly.
MAJOR UPDATE (12/12/24): Dining *CONFIRMED* the return of the old containers! All further updates will be published in the new article.
Just recently, an anonymous YikYak user who claims to be an Atrium cashier posted that, starting January 6th, 2025, The Atrium will bring back the bigger, compostable containers from earlier in the semester.
The message also alleges that you'd have the option to choose between the bigger, compostable containers or the new, smaller, reusable rental containers. Furthermore, the message also claims that lids and straws will be returned to the dining hall.
It's unclear why The Atrium removed lids and straws in the first place.
This is a developing story, and a BSn contributor has reached out to a Dining representative to confirm or deny this claim.
UPDATE (12/10/24, 3:54pm) - The cashier told BSn the following via YikYak: "[The] General Manager was the one to report to us. [This i]s confimed." BSn is still waiting on an official response to this claim.
UPDATE (12/10/24, 4:21pm) - Moments ago, Alisha Fields commented on our story via Instagram that they've spoken with a cashier at The Atrium. The cashier claimed the removal of lids and straws was "to cut down plastic waste".
