BSnUws Debuts The 1st Annual Felonious Food Award

MUNCIE, INDIANA - In the theme of Halloween and the spirit of all things spooky: On-campus food options.

The Felonious Food Award is a brand-new BSnUws tradition that will happen sometime in October. On October 9th, 2024, we asked you to vote for the worst of the worst on our Instagram page, @BSnUws. As options narrow down, we'll give the last one standing the one, the only Felonious Food Award.

The order of the lineup has been randomized for fairness. Until tomorrow evening, you can vote between...

  • North vs Woodworth
  • Atrium vs Student Center
  • Tom John vs Maka Mia Pizza
  • StuWest Microcafe vs Bookmark Cafe
  • Icecream vs Noyer Market

Tonight, 10 food spots are competing, but by tomorrow, only 5 will remain. However, to keep things interesting (and fair, since 5 is an odd number), we’re giving the food spot with the most votes tonight a second chance! This top-voted contender won’t have to compete in the next round, but will be held back for the ultimate showdown.

So, after tomorrow’s vote, only 4 food options will move on to the "Final Four." Two of those will face off, and the winner will go up against the food item that was held back—giving it another shot at the title. This twist keeps the competition fair while adding a potential redemption arc!

Make your voice heard--cast your vote on Instagram @BSnUws!

UPDATE: The Atrium won the vote for the Felonious Food Award!!

The Atrium to Follow MyPlate Standards, Limiting Vivimos and Adding Salad Bar

MUNCIE, INDIANA - Inspired by the old MyPlate initiative pushed in K-12 schools, Ball State Dining has taken inspiration, making groundbreaking changes to The Atrium. These changes include less availability at Vivimos, an additional salad bar, and the most important meal of the day no longer being served. A post circulating Instagram and YikYak from a student food reviewer shows that that Vivimos is now part of the "Rotating Cuisine" menu, only offering burritos, burrito bowls and nachos. A salad bar was also introduced. Breakfast, however, is no longer an option. A spokesperson for University Dining told BSnUws that they were "inspired by Becoming by Michelle Obama" to "implement the classic MyPlate standards from back in our day". "The MyPlate program states we only have to give our scholars 2 cups of fruit, 2 and a half cups of vegetables, 6 ounces of whole grain, 5 and a half ounces of protein, and 3 cups of milk for what we offer to be consid...
