PHILADELPHIA, PA - Last night, ABC News hosted the first presidential debate between former president Donald Trump and current vice president Kamala Harris. Throughout the debate, Trump continuously interrupted the moderators, allegedly going severely off-topic when a Ball State-spesific issue was brought up: TransLoc.
TransLoc, a mobile app used to track Ball State shuttle buses, was removed at the decision of the University. No word or statement has been released from Bus Operations to the Ball State student body on why the decision was made, however some students have allegedly got in contact with the office and have received word that it was due to "budget cuts", despite the increase in tuition cost.
ABC moderator David Muerer allegedly asked Trump for his perspective on the removal of the app. Trump, by either mishearing or outright wanting to change the subject to fit his political desires, switched the topic.
"[Kamala Harris] wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison", said Trump on national television.
The New York Times, which Ball State offers free access to (while connected to Ball State WiFi, click here to sign up), fact-checked this claim, stating it "needs context".
"Trump is referring to Harris’s response to a 2019 [ACLU] questionnaire, in which she said she supported using taxpayer funds to give access to gender-affirming care to transgender and nonbinary people, including those in immigration detention and prison", reported the Times.
This wasn't just limited to that question--Trump made numerous false claims and interrupted the moderator many times. Immigrants in Springfield, Ohio are not "eating the dogs", crime is not "up and through the roof", people are not executing babies, and Russian president Vladimir Putin did not endorse Harris.
It's still unclear why TransLoc is removed. It's also unclear why Trump kept interrupting Muerer every second he could.
